Among the projects presented this week in the virtual edition of Annecy 2020 we also find the interesting Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds, films of which we see the first animations below. The director Benoìt Chieux (Aunt Hilda!) created and directs this story, with the help of the author Alain Gagnol (A Cat in Paris, Phantom Boy), the music of Pablo Pico (Marona's Fantastic Tale), and the animations of the Parisian studios Sacrebleu Productions.Sirocco et le Royaume des Courants d'Air (original title) focuses on the adventures of two sisters, Juliette and Carmen, 8 and 4 years old, who discover a passage that leads them into the universe of their favorite book: the Kingdom of the Winds. Here they will meet fantastic animals and characters and, in particular, two older sisters, Agnes and Selma, whose personalities reflect those of the two younger sisters. The film is made with a budget of 6 million euros using almost exclusively two-dimensional animations that are inspired (without hiding it) from Japanese anime, creating a colorful and imaginative world populated by strange characters.A 75-minute film whose end of production is scheduled for 2022, with a book and a possible TV series also part of the plans for this project. Here the first animations:[ Fra - source AnimationMagazine ].
