The European Film Awards presented on Saturday night in Berlin, show the triumph in the animated section of the feature film Flee.
Among the contenders of the 2021, 34th European Film Awards edition we find [news]:

- The Ape Star by Linda Hamback
Productions: Sweden, Norway, Denmark

- Even Mice Belong in Heaven by Denisa Grimmová, Jan Bubenícek
Productions: Czech Rep., Poland, Slovakia, France

- Where Is Anne Frank by Ari Folman
Productions: Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Israel

- Wolfwalkers by Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart
Productions: Ireland, Luxembourg, France

But the triumph was Flee by Jonas Poher Rasmussen (production: Denmark, France, Sweden, Norway) both as Best Animated Feature Film and as Best Documentary and also winner of the European University Film Award voted by the students. The animated film has collected awards all over the world, including Annecy, Sundance, British Independent Film Awards, Jerusalem Film Festival, National Board of Review, New York Film Critics Circle Awards, Nordisk Film Award and many more.

The film follows Amin, who, on the verge of marrying his husband, shares his story for the first time about his hidden past fleeing his home country of Afghanistan to Denmark as a refugee.
