The new French animated feature The Famous Invasion of the Bears in Sicily, presented in the official selection of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, is shown with the first trailer.
La Fameuse Invasion de la Sicile par les Ours, the French title, is inspired by the children's novel written and illustrated by the writer, journalist, painter, playwright, set designer, costume designer and Italian poet Dino Buzzati. The film is made by French studios Prima Linea (Red Turtle, Zarafa) and directed by the Italian illustrator Lorenzo Mattotti, author of the design of Enzo D'Alò Pinocchio.

Published in 1945, the book tells the story of a group of bears living in the mountains of Sicily under the command of King Leonzio who decides to invade the Grand Duchy of Sicily to survive during a cold winter without food; Leonzio also hopes to find his son Tonio, kidnapped by hunters a few years earlier.

In competition in the "Un Certain Regard" section of the Cannes Film Festival 2019, the film will be released in French theaters by Pathe on October 9.
