On the day of the 78th birthday of the South American animated icon of the Universal studios, Woody Woodpecker, we present you the trailer for new projects created only for web audience.
Woody is a very popular icon in the southern part of the American continent, never forgotten since his first animated series, and main character of a hybrid film (live-action and computer graphics) produced in 2017.

A Walter Lantz's idea, born in his animation studios and designed by Ben "Bugs" Hardaway, the icon is the protagonist of The Woody Woodpecker Show, a series of short film created with two-dimensional animations, distributed by Universal Pictures.

Now he's ready to come back 46 years after the classic cartoons, 16 years after the three modern seasons of Woody Woodpecker, and one year after the initial YouTube channel launches.

"When we launched Woody Woodpecker on YouTube in 2017, the channels immediately resonated and the dedicated Portuguese channel for Brazil was a breakout hit; we knew there was a unique opportunity to do more with this favorite, classic character," said Rob Bell, EVP NBCUniversal Global Distribution. "With the Brazilian channel organically attracting over 2 million subscribers and the Spanish channel over 700,00 subscribers coupled with extremely high engagement and watch time – it was clear there was an appetite to build upon the strength of the existing IP and a strategic opportunity for us to create original content."

The new content of the YouTube channels will also feature other classic Lantz characters, including Winnie, Buzz Buzzard, Wally Walrus, Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, Splinter and Knothead, with 10 brand new five-minute episodes, created with a classic look and directed by Alex Zamm, and a 13 minutes behind-the-scenes documentary Bird Gone Wild: The Woody Woodpecker Story.

Released in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and English this December, here the first animations:
