Here comes the time of year when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) publishes the short lists of nominees for the Oscar awards. Below the nominations of the animation sector.
The short list of this latest edition, number 94, brings back the American studios and a single European representation at the center of the kermesse. Forget the Asian productions which a few more considerations would not be disfigured in the five.

Here are the categories and nominations:

Best Animated Feature Film
- Encanto [news] (Disney - USA)
- Flee [news] by Jonas Poher Rasmussen (Denmark, France, Sweden, Norway)
- Luca [news] (Disney/Pixar - USA)
- The Mitchells vs. the Machines [news] (Sony Pictures Imageworks, Sony Pictures Animation - USA)
- Raya and the Last Dragon [news] (Disney - USA)

Encanto is also nominated in the Best Original Score and Best Original Song "Dos Oruguitas" category.

Flee is also nominated in the Best International Feature Film and Best Documentary (Feature) categories. The Rasmussen's feature has triumphed in numerous festivals around the world including European Film Awards, Annecy, Sundance, British Independent Film Awards, Jerusalem Film Festival, National Board of Review, New York Film Critics Circle Awards, Nordisk Film Award and others.

- Affair of the Art by Joanna Quinn and Les Mills
- Beast by Hugo Covarrubias and Tevo Díaz
- Boxballet by Anton Dyakov
- Robin Robin by Dan Ojari and Mikey Please
- The Windshield Wiper by Alberto Mielgo and Leo Sanchez
