Oscars 2023: Pinocchio triumphs as animated feature film

Expectations were not disappointed: the animated feature film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson conquers the sector's statuette. All the info below.
The no.95 (2023) edition ended a few hours ago of the Academy Awards, among the most important film industry awards in the world which this year saw the feature film triumph over all < i>Everything Everywhere All at Once of American production but with a strong oriental component.

The award for best animated feature film went to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio produced by Netflix which beat out competitors Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (Universal/DreamWorks), The Sea Beast (Netflix) and Turning Red (Disney/Pixar).

Del Toro has used the platform afforded by his nominations to champion the medium of animation as true cinema, proclaiming in his Bafta award speech: Animation is not a genre for kids. It’s a medium for art, it’s a medium for film and I think animation should stay in the conversation.

The award for best animated short film was instead won by The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy and < i>Matthew Freud.
