Due to Coronavirus, two animated films were canceled in China

With dozens of victims and hundreds of infected people, the Coronavirus in China is causing significant problems in many sectors, including the theaters, even going so far as to cancel films with high grossing potential.

A drastic choices that, due to this problem at the moment without a remedy, affects a sector whose losses could reach the billion dollars, very high collections expected especially for the celebrations of the Lunar New Year.

An audience of about 10,000 theaters whose fate is not very clear for the next few weeks.

Involved in this loss are two high-profile animated feature films: Jiang Ziya: Legend of Deification and Boonie Bears: The Wild Life.

The first film is a mythological action created by the Beijing-based animation studio Enlight, the same author of Ne Zha, blockbuster in China with over $700 million and a nomination on the Oscar long list.

The second film is Boonie Bears: The Wild Life, is the new chapter of a saga for the whole family very well known in China which can count on an annual merchandising of over $700 million.

The producers have released a press release in which they "advise against gathering in crowded places such as theaters to watch their new film, so as to avoid further spreading this dangerous virus. Nothing is more important than the health of families and of children."
