American release for the anime Sayonara no Aza
The japanese anime Sayonara no Asa e Yakusoku no Hana o Kazarņ by Mari Okada will be released in North America this summer. Below infos and first trailer.
Eleven Arts Anime Studio distributes the movie in the North America territories with the title Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, the directorial debut of screenwriter Mari Okada.
We've talk about the movie some months ago [news] when director Makoto Shinkai released his own personal and enthusiastic review of the movie.
The story is set far from the lands of men, where the long-lived people of Iorph weave the threads of human fate into a fabric called Hibiol. Here, an orphan named Maquia lives an oddly lonesome existence despite being surrounded by beloved friends. One day everything thrown into chaos when a Mezarte army and their dragons come to reap the Iorphs' powers of longevity. Managing to escape, Maquia finds a baby boy left alone in the world by the carnage. She takes him to raise as her own, names him Ariel, and watches him grow up as she remain the same young girl.
A fantastical story where the director Okada wraps themes of motherhood, adolescence, femininity, and leadership into a sweeping, emotional epic.
The movie is created by P.A.Works, a young Japanese animation studios on their first features movie, with the character design by Akihiko Yoshida, Final Fantasy franchise veteran and the score by composer Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell).
After the international premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival, the movie will be released in North America in selected theaters in the original Japanese with English subtitles on July 20, 2018.
