The Chinese film Deep Sea lands in French theaters today

Presented at the Berlinale 2023, the feature film box office hit Deep Sea arrives in French theaters. French trailer and poster to follow.
The title chosen by the distributors is Le Royaume des Abysses (The Kingdom of the Abyss), while in China it was released under the name Shen Hai (Deep Sea), box office hit with over 140 million euros grossed against a budget of only 25 million), one of the rare Chinese animated films also designed for the international market.

Made with 3D CGI pushed to never-before-seen levels and with an art direction inspired by Chinese painting, the story is about Shenxiu, a young girl who has felt deep sadness since she was abandoned by her mother. During a cruise with her family, she falls into the sea and finds her way to the Deep Sea restaurant, where she meets chef Nanhe and embarks on a journey drifting between dreams and reality.

The feature is directed by Tian Xiaopeng (Monkey King: Hero Is Back) and produced by October Media and Coloroom Pictures and hit French theaters today February 21.
