Toho animation announced the adaptation of the light novel The Apothecary Diaries expected later this year. First promo below.
The Apothecary Diaries (original Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) is the light novel
by Natsu Hyuga and Touko Shino published by Hyuga in October 2011 and then adapted in manga version by Nekokurage since May 2017 and until this month in which the final volume (eleventh) will be published.
The story is set in a land ruled by an emperor whose consorts and female servants live in a vast complex known as the hougong, the back mansion. Maomao, an unassuming girl never imagined that this mansion would have anything to do with her until she was kidnapped and sold to serve there. Thanks to her sharp mind and medical knowledge, the girl will immediately be noticed until she becomes the companion of the emperor's favorite consort and the one who tastes food to recognize any poisons.
Norihiro Naganuma directs and supervises scripts at TOHO animation and Oriental Light and Magic, Yukiko Nakatani (Go! Princess Precure, Tropical-Rouge! Precure) is in charge of character design. Katsumi Takao is the art director, Yu Nagai is the CG elements director, and Satoru Kousaki, Kevin Penkin and Arisa Okehazama b> compose the music.
