New trailer for Shinichiro Watanabe's Lazarus anime

The long-awaited new anime Lazarus by Shinichiro Watanabe is showing with a new trailer just over a month of the premiere.

Lazarus is an original anime which will be made at the well-known Japanese animation studio MAPPA (Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan The Final Season) and the production of the american Adult Swim and Japanese Sola Entertainment.

Adult Swim senior vice-president Jason DeMarco confirmed that the Japanese author will direct the individual episodes, with the staff also including Chad Stahelski (John Wick stuntman) who will take care of the action scenes, the jazz player and saxophonist Kamasi Washington and the producers and DJs Floating Points and Bonobos.

The story is set in 2052: an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity throughout the world as humanity was freed from disease and pain thanks to a miracle drug. But the drug is later found to condemn those who have taken it to certain death after three years. In response to this threat, a special task force of 5 operatives is assembled from around the world to save humanity. This group is called "Lazarus".

The premiere is expected Saturday, April 5 at midnight on the Adult Swim Toonami block.
