First animations for the anime The Summer Hikaru Died

The first promo for the anime The Summer Hikaru Died based on the manga of the same name has been released. Find info and video below.

Kadokawa has revealed the first promotional teaser for the television anime adaptation of Mokumokuren's manga titled The Summer That Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) that will premiere in summer 2021.

The project is being directed by Ryohei Takeshita (Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night, Pokémon: Paldean Winds) with the series script being supervised by him at Cygames Pictures. Yuichi Takahashi (Macross Frontier) is in charge of character design and animation direction.

The story is about two boys lived in a village: Yoshiki and Hikaru. The two did everything together... until the day Hikaru was encompassed by a mysterious light. That was when everything changed -Hikaru most of all. Yoshiki still wishes from the bottom of his heart to always stay by his side... but is there even a Hikaru left to be with?

The anime is expected next summer in Japan on NTV and for free streaming on ABEMA, while in the rest of the world it will be distributed on Netflix.
