First images from Sylvain Chomet's new film on Marcel Pagnol

Sylvain Chomet, brilliant French director, is ready to return with a new film next year. Below we show you the first images.

The feature film will be a biopic on the life of a leading figure in mid-20th century art: Marcel Pagnol, a writer and filmmaker whose books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide. The film will tell his life story through a dialogue between his adult self and his childhood self.

The original title is Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol, internationally The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol, written and directed by Sylvain Chomet and produced by What The Prod, Onyx Films, Align, ON Animation Studios and Walking The Dog.

The film will mark Chomet's return to cinema after Les Triplettes de Belleville (2003), The Illusionist (2010). In recent years, the director has opened an animation school in northern France and is also working on The Thousand Miles, inspired by the work of Federico Fellini.

Expected in October 2025 in French theaters distributed by Wild Bunch, here are the first images:
