First animation for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

The first animations of the long-awaited feature film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim have finally been released. We can watch it immediately below.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is set 183 years before the events of the original trilogy, exploring the untold story behind the fortress of Helm’s Deep and delving into the life of one of Middle-earth’s most legendary figures: the mighty King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand. It marks the first LOTR adaptation led by a female protagonist: Hammerhand’s daughter, the clan’s lone survivor of the devastating war between Rohan and the Dunledings, who has been dubbed Hèra for the animated epic.

The film is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus), with a story by Phoebe Gittins, Arty Papageorgiou, Will Matthews and Jeffrey Addiss and animation produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Sola Entertainment. The original trilogy's creators Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh serve as executive producers, with Philippa Boyens producing.

Distributed by Warner Bros., it is due in theaters in North America on December 13.
