BIG - a drama mixed animation and live-action film from Taiwan


A dramatic film that aims to give hope beyond the illness is the one told by the feature film BIG which, among the ranks, also features Japanese and Italian artists. Below info, trailer, clips and making-of.


BIG (Being Is Gift) is a film produced in Taiwan which, among its makers, includes international artists including Japanese and Italians as well as domestic ones.

Directed by Wei Te-sheng, the film is inspired by the true story of a child who survived the disease, and by the director's participation 20 years ago in a television documentary dedicated to children amputated due to hip cancer. bones, the film tells the life of six children and their families in an oncology department, and more precisely in room 816 (for this reason canceled and renamed "BIG").

The animated clips are created by a team led by the Japanese Takumi Tanji (director/storyboard/artistic director for the Makoto Shinkai films), which also features Valentina Brancati (character design), Lorenzo Fresta (animation direction) and Leonardo Ken Usami (art direction and colors).

Already released in theaters in Taiwan, the film is starting to appear timidly on international markets.
