Inside Out 2 is a success and not just for Pixar

Just arrived in theaters at home, the new feature film from the Californian studios Pixar scores an excellent debut at the box office .

Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann with the story written by Meg LeFauve and production by Mark Nielsen. In the first three days the film landed in American theaters (in 4,440 theaters) it grossed $155 million and another 140 worldwide despite still having to be released in numerous countries.

A total of $295 million which marks several positive points including the first debut above $100 million for a film at the American box office and the second best debut ever for an animated film (after Incredibles 2) and the best debut after the pandemic period.

At this point many analysts think that the film will surpass the billion dollar mark and would be the first film of the year (last year's record belongs to Barbie).

For the studios Pixar it is a revenge after the choices of the owners Disney during the Pandemic to release the films Soul, Luca and Red directly streaming on Disney+ against the will of the Pixar board. The first films to return to theaters were Lightyear, a flop with only $226 million worldwide, and Elemental which started very slowly and closed with almost $500 million.

The budgets of Pixar films are not exactly suitable for direct release on streaming platforms, as their makers have always indicated. Who knows if the message will reach its destination.
