First images of the feature Lord of The Rings The War of The Rohirrim


The long-awaited animated feature film Lord of The Rings The War of The Rohirrim, after the delays of the latest Hollywood strike, is shown with the very first images before the active in theaters scheduled at the end of the year.


On the occasion of the Annecy Festival which is taking place in these days Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema showed the first images of the feature film set in the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien and with animations produced by Tokyo based Sola Entertainment (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045).

Director Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) and Andy Serkis, the iconic motion-capture artist who played the character of Gollum, presented a showcase and a 20-minute preview of the film applauded by all those present.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is set 183 years before the events of the original trilogy, exploring the untold story behind the fortress of Helm’s Deep and delving into the life of one of Middle-earth’s most legendary figures: the mighty King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand. It marks the first LOTR adaptation led by a female protagonist: Hammerhand’s daughter, the clan’s lone survivor of the devastating war between Rohan and the Dunledings, who has been dubbed Hèra for the animated epic.

With the director and author of the two film trilogies Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh present as executive producers, the film is expected at the end of the year in the USA from 13 December with the length of the film already announced 2 hours and 10 minutes.
