Jim Capobianco makes his directorial debut with The Inventor
A new feature film is on the horizon, from a former Disney and Pixar artist in his directorial debut. Below the promo and the first information of The Inventor.
Jim Capobianco is a Mickey Mouse studio veteran animator who has worked on numerous classics including The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Fantasia 2000, then moved on to the Pixar studios where he shared an Oscar for Ratatouille.
Capobianco is now making his directorial debut with The Inventor, a film he wrote which premiered at the last edition of the Annecy Festival.
Co-directed by animator Pierre-Luc Granjon, the film is produced by Curiosity Studio, Foliascope, Aerial Contrivance Studios and SIE Films. Among the producers are Robert Rippberger, Adrian Politowski, Martin Metz, Ilan Urroz and Capobianco himself.
Made with stop-motion animations by the Irish Curiosity Studio and 2D sequences created by the colleagues Cartoon Saloon, the feature visits time spent by Leonardo da Vinci as part of the French court in the years following his departure from Italy. In France, the inventor finds greater freedom to experiment with his timeless inventions and the company of the audacious Princess Marguerite.
With the voices of Stephen Fry, Daisy Ridley, Marion Cotillard and Matt Berry, here is a long video presented by the author himself:
