More mature characters for the new Avatar: The Last Airbender film

The famous animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender produced for three seasons by Nickelodeon is ready to return with interesting news.

The animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko set in an imaginary world of clearly Asian inspiration with warriors able to magically control the four main elements: water, earth, fire and air. The protagonist is the twelve-year-old Aang, an Avatar whose task is to reconcile the four nations.

Paramount confirmed at the latest CinemaCon that the new animated feature film of Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released on October 10, 2025, sharing the first official image in which we see the protagonists in a more grown-up version.

It will be the first film of three already planned by Nickelodeon Animation, Paramount Animation and the recent Avatar Studios, a new section created to curate the franchise.

The film is directed by Lauren Montgomery with authors DiMartino and Konietzko as executive producers alongside Eric Coleman.

The animations will be produced by Australian studios Flying Bark Productions (What If...?) with a hybrid mix of 2D and 3D.
