No Dogs or Italians Allowed and Titina triumph at Tokyo Anime Award

Two of the biggest European animated feature films of the last season were awarded at the Tokyo Anime Awards held a few days ago.

The stop-motion film by Alain Ughetto receives the grand price, immediately behind the 2D film by Kajsa Næss; two European productions.

The competition received 31 entries from 26 countries and territories for the feature film section this year, while the short film section received 872 entries from 63 countries and territories. Four feature films and 29 short films were then selected to screen at the festival.

The Tokyo Anime Award animated film judging panel was composed by producer Fukashi Azuma (Gin Tama, Naruto: Shippuden), director Ryuichi Kimura (Gurren Lagann, Beyblade), director Cesar Cabral ( Bob Spit - We Do Not Like People, Storm) and journalist Haery Kim.

Grand Prize: No Dogs or Italians Allowed by Alain Ughetto (France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal)

Award of Excellence: Titina by Kajsa Næss (Belgium, Norway)

Grand Prize: The Borderline by Christian Arredondo Narvàez (Mexico)

Award of Excellence: The Queen of the Foxes by Marina Rosset (Switzerland)

Toshima City Award: Swing to the Moon by Marie Bordessoule, Adriana Bouissie, Nadine De Boer, Elisa Drique, Chloé Lauzu, Vincent Levrero, Solenne Moreau (France)

Student Film: 3 Intestine Road, Fish Island by Moe Wakabayashi (Japan)
