Jorge R. Gutierrez's Annecy 2023 poster dedicated to Mexican culture

One of the major animation festivals in the world, Annecy, presents the 20223 edition with the new poster entirely dedicated to Mexican animation with a great signature, the author and director Jorge R. Gutierrez.

Gutierrez is the acclaimed Mexican author of the latest Maya and the Warriors Three (Netflix) but also director of the feature film The Book of Life and the series made together with his wife Sandra Equihua titled El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera for Nickelodeon.

The event, which will be held in the French city of the same name from 11 to 17 June, this year will focus on Mexican culture, folklore and its artists who brought this colorful world into animation.

"Jorge's work is deeply rooted in Mexican popular culture and folklore, but it is also zealously festive", commented the Annecy Festival's Artistic Director Marcel Jean. "He flaunts a generous, Baroque, and colorful artistry that is full of surprises, which incarnates the festival's very spirit. This poster invites you to come and party with us!"

The author commented the poster whit this words: "is very inspired by all the spectacular nighttime parties at our beloved Festival. A Mexican 'Xochimilco trajinera' boat arrives on Lake Annecy carrying lots of happy and excited Mexicans ready to party. The city itself is glowing, it's shining like a warm magical place".

Gutierrez, who will also be part of the jury of the Festival, is currently developing a Netflix animated feature titled I, Chihuahua with Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias.
