Kyoto Animation's archery club returns with a movie

The protagonists of the anime Tsurune return this summer with a film produced by the prestigious Kyoto Animation studios. Below trailer and release date.

Gekijoban Tsurune: Hajimari no Issha (translated as The Starting Shot) is the film that follows the anime series produced a few years ago broadcast first on the Japanese network NHK and then around the world on Crunchyroll.

The stories revolve around Narumiya Minato, a new high school student who is invited to join the archery club. While his two childhood friends enthusiastically sign up, Minato is hesitant, as he is inexperienced in the sport. When the club advisor asks the boy for a demonstration and his arrow misses the mark, he is revealed to have developed a "dysfunction" in archery.

The director and author of the story is Takuya Yamamura (Violet Evergarden, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) under the supervision of the author of the original series Michiko Yokote. Author of the music is Masaru Yokoyama (Her Blue Sky, Fruits Basket) while the visual sector sees the return of the staff of the series, including character designer Miku Kadowaki (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid).

The film is announced in Japanese theaters on August 19th. Here is the trailer and a poster:
