Rescue Rangers Chip and Dale reunited after 30 years in a new film

The Disney studios present the first images of the comedy Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, a hybrid live-action/CG animated film. Below the video.

The feature film directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live), written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, based on a story by Barry Schwartz and produced by Mandeville Films and Walt Disney Pictures, mixes live-actions with animation, both classic two-dimensional and in CG, important elements precisely for the story.

In the story Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale, meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend's life.

As the trailer points out, the two protagonists live life in a different way: one anchored to the past, therefore represented with two-dimensional animations, and the other projected to the future, redesigned in a CG version. These two techniques will move hand in hand throughout the story, integrating together within the live footage.

The film, including actors features John Mulaney (Chip), Andy Samberg (Dale), KiKi Layne and also Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, JK Simmons, Chris Parnell and many others.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers will not hit theaters but will be distributed exclusively on Disney+ from May 20, 2022.
