2021 crowns animation at the top of the Japanese box office

Three animated feature films have recorded the highest box-office grossing in Japan this past year. Below info and trailers.

They are the latest film in the Evangelion saga, the new adventure of the young Detective Conan and the latest Mamoru Hosoda film, Belle to triumph at the Japanese box office.

The podium is composed as follows:

1 - Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time - 10.28 billion yen (US$89.5 million)
2 - Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet - 7.65 billion yen (US$66.6 million)
3 - Belle - 6.53 billion yen (US$56.9 million)

While the first and third films already have international distribution, the new work starring the young detective is currently limited to the domestic market only.
