Rumble - Paramount monsters wrestling film skip theatrical release

Surprisingly, the Paramount studios anticipate the release of their new animated feature Rumble by a few months on their platform.

Completed for at least a year, the theatrical release of Rumble has been moved earlier due to the pandemic (last date announced was February 2022) and now, thanks to the birth of the Paramount+ platform (formerly CBS All Access), the film will skip the release in theaters (at least in the USA) to land directly on the streaming platform.

The film is directed by Hamish Grieve, former DreamWorks Animation animator here making his directorial debut, and written by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Madagascar 2, Men in Black 3) and Matt Lieberman (The Addams Family, Scooby!), with animations produced by Texans Reel FX Creative Studios and the co-production of WWE (the American Wrestling Federation).

The story is set in a world where the best known sport is wrestling, but fought by monsters, considered real superstars. The young teenager Winnie, wanting to follow in the footsteps of her father's coach, will try to turn a listless and loser monster into a champion.

More than two months in advance, Rumble will now be available on Paramount+ from December 15th. There is no information for the release in other territories. The platform will arrive in Europe in 2022 where Sky operates.
