A Lord Of The Rings' anime prequel in production

The next seasons will see protagonists again the characters born from the mind of J.R.R. Tolkien between live-action series and also an animated prequel already in production.

While the high-budget live-action series produced by Amazon should be on the way, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are working on a film prequel.

It is an animated prequel of the well-known trilogy (books/films), with the story that will take us back to the ancient siege of Helm's Deep.

The Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim will feature the mighty and ninth king of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, in an untold story of the clashes in the fortress and the life of one of the most legendary figures on Middle-earth.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the film will be made at the Japanese studios of Sola Entertainment (Ghost In The Shell - SAC 2045, Harlock, Appleseed Alpha), specialized in CG animation, directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ghost In The Shell - SAC 2045), the screenplay written by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance). Interesting is the presence of Philippa Boyens, producer and author of the original film trilogy together with Peter Jackson, here as a consultant.

The film will be released in theaters distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. but no date has yet been announced.
