Mamoru Hosoda will return next summer with the anime Belle
The new film by one of the most interesting Japanese animation directors of recent years promises to be very spectacular: Mamoru Hosoda. Below the first animations of Belle.
Also made at Studio Chizu in Tokyo, co-founded by Hosoda himself, here still in the role of author of the story and director, presents the new anime Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime (literally "The Princess of Dragons and Freckles") which in international territory becomes Belle.
The director of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, The Boy and The Beast and the latest Mirai will take us to the world of Suzu, a 17-year-old high school student who lost her mother at an early age to an accident, and now lives with her father in an uninhabited rural town. Suzu learns of "U", a virtual world in which she joins with an avatar named Belle, whose singing attracts worldwide attention. Here Belle meets a mysterious creature that is shaped like a dragon.
The film, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the animation studio's founding, will talk about themes such as "maturity, family and friendship" by bringing the director back into virtual environments as happened on his previous Summer Wars and will hit Japanese big screens in Summer 2021.
