Trailer for the CG anime Stand By Me Doraemon 2
The first feature film in the series starring Doraemon in three dimensions - CGI - titled Stand By Me Doraemon will have a sequel. Below the trailer.
Originally scheduled to hit Japanese theaters this summer, later canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, the sequel will be based on the 2000 franchise Doraemon: Obachan no Omoide (Doraemon: A Grandmother's Recollections) in which new elements will be included, such as the continuation of the love story of the adult versions of Shizuka and Nobita that began in Stand By Me Doraemon.
The cast that made the first film has been confirmed, with Ryuichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki as directors and Yamazaki still scriptwriter for this new chapter.
In 2014 the first film Stand By Me Doraemon grossed 8.38 billion Yen (US $77 million) in the Japanese box offices only and over $90 million worldwide.
Another classic franchise film, made with two-dimensional animations, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur, initially scheduled for March, was moved to August due to the pandemic, but this release is still not confirmed.
