Disney pushes the Fox titles out of the way [UPD]
After the acquisition by the Disney studios of Fox, the animated productions of this studios have increasingly had a dark destiny, the same fate for the productions currently in production.
The Mickey Mouse studios seem to focus more and more on their studios, pausing or further moving the productions of the Fox he inherited with the acquisition of the Fox.
Today we talks about Bob's Burgers, Nimona and Ron's Gone Wrong.
- The film of the animated series Bob's Burgers, whose release was scheduled for July 2020, has been taken off the studio's release schedule.
[UPDATE]
The Walt Disney Company is now claiming that they made an error (error? a mega-studios like Disney?). They sent out a corrected schedule that now includes Bob's Burgers: The Movie for July 17, 2020.
- Nimoa was the new production of Blue Sky studios based on the fantasy comic by Noelle Stevenson whose release has been postponed for 10 months, since March 5, 2021 to January 14, 2022.
- Ron's Gone Wrong marked the film debut of the English studios Locksmith Animation, whose contract originally signed with Fox was canceled by Disney, retaining only this film whose release was postponed from November 2020 to February 2021. The British studios took the opportunity instead to sign a new contract with Warner Bros..
The motivation for these changes is to give space to the titles of the internal studios, therefore Disney and Pixar, of which in the next 4 years there will be 10 animated films: 4 Disney and 6 Pixar.
After the acquisition of Fox, the intentions of the new owners seem therefore increasingly clear, even if there is still nothing official. And the Blue Sky Studios at the moment seem to be the ones most at risk.
