Dragon Ball Super: Broly hit Box Office in North America


The new anime Dragon Ball Super: Broly sets a new record opening as the #1 movie in the U.S. on 1.440 screens including 180 IMAX and large format screens.


It's really a news to find a Japanese anime in the top of the American Box Office, in front of blockbuster billionaires like Aquaman and the last Spider-Man. But Dragon Ball Super: Broly yesterday surprised everyone with $ 7 million on its first day.

The anime is distributed in North America by Funimation Film (a division of Sony Pictures Television) and has collected in all the countries where it has already been projected over $64 million, including $23 million in Japan.

Produced by Toei Animation, with a story written by Dragon Ball's father Akira Toriyama, the film is the biggest opening for an event film ever as well as the 5th highest earning anime theatrical opening of all time.
