Mary Poppins Returns pay homage to classic 2D animations
The upcoming Disney christmas movie will be the anticipated return of Mary Poppins, a 1960s family classic. The remake also features a classic 2D animations.
The new comedy/musical is titled Mary Poppins Returns directed by Rob Marshall with the actress Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, in the role of Julie Andrews in the first movie. The cast includes Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr..
A movie with a lot of special effects and computer graphics produced by Cinesite, Framestore, Lidar Lounge and Luma Pictures, with the returns of the classic 2D animations, as in the first movie.
Marshall wants to pay homage to the original Mary Poppins movie and all the animation tecniques no longer used in modern film industry. A way to give life to Poppins' fantasies that interact with the actors.
The animations is produced by Duncan Studio, Pasadena (California). A project started almost 2 years ago, from the early testing to the final images, with over 100 amazing talented artists working on it. The studios says "There is much more animation than is shown in the trailer".
