New trailer and world premiere for Hosoda's Mirai

The world premiere of the new movie by Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda, Mirai no Mirai (Mirai of the Future), will be held in Europe. Below we also present new trailer and poster.

The French Director's Guild announced yesterday that the world premiere of the new animated feature movie of the director of The Boy and the Beast and Summer Wars will screen at this year's Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Directors' Fortnight), an independent section held in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival (May 9-19).

The film's staff also revealed an international poster with the international title "Mirai":

The film focuses on a four-year-old boy named Kun, now spoiled by the family but whose position is threatened by the arrival of a little sister. Things get complicated for him when one day, while he is playing in a mysterious garden, he meets his mother as a young girl and his great-grandfather when he is young. The two will undertake adventures together that will make the child understand his role as an older brother.

The movie has a 100-minute runtime, produced by Studio Chizu and will open in Japan on July 20, but the movie is already slated to open in 57 countries, included United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and many other.
