Shikioriori - The poem of seasons woven together


The japanese animation studios Comix Wave Films (producer of Makoto Shinkai's movies) with a Chinese animation studios, produces an interesting anthology-movie with 3 poetic short movies in japanese theaters this summer.


Co-produced with chinese Haoliners Animation, the project is an anthology titled Shikioriori (Poem of Seasons Woven Together). The three shorts movies are titled respectively: "Hidamari no Chōshoku" (Sunny Breakfast), "Chiisana Fashion Show" (A Small Fashion Show), and "Shanghai Koi" (Shanghai Love), all three set in three different Chinese cities.

Theme of the three stories are food, clothing, and shelter. The first short movie, which is about a youth working in Beijing and a grandmother in his hometown, is writeen and direct by live-action director Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing, here in his animation directorial debut.

The second short movie, which is about sisters living in Guangzhou, is direct by Yoshitaka Takeuchi, the 3DCG chief in many of Shinkai's movies.

The third short movie, which is set in 1990s Shanghai as a homage to 5 Centimeters Per Second (a Shinkai's movie), is directed by Li Haoling, also credited as the overall director of the Shikioriori project.
