As we reach the end of the year, we begin to take a look at the blockbusters ready to arrive in Italian and international cinemas in 2025. Compared to past years, the list will be partial, with producers not going much further than the summer, with very few exceptions.
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
Aardman Animations returns with their award-winning flagship characters on
January 3 on
Netflix. The story follows Gromit who fears that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions. Wallace ends up inventing an intelligent gnome who seems to develop a mind of his own.
Spermageddon
Worth a mention is the original Norwegian feature film Spermageddon which tells the story of Simon the sperm and his search for the greatest of all. The wonderful egg. A seemingly impossible task, especially considering that they end up in the wrong place first. In theaters in Norway
January 10.
Dog Man
DreamWorks Animation returns to stories for the little audience with the film based on the books by
Dav Pilkey. When a loyal police dog and his human police officer are injured together on the job, a crazy but lifesaving surgery fuses them together and Dog Man is born. The film is expected in theaters in USA on
January 31.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep
Monster hunter Geralt of Rivia finds himself embroiled in an epic battle between land and sea in this animated film from the universe of "The Witcher." An interesting collaboration between Polish studios
Platige Image and South Korean
Studio Mir that will be released on
Netflix on
February 11.
Elio
Delayed by a year, the new
Pixar film will take us into space with Elio, a space fanatic with a vivid imagination and a great obsession with aliens. The young man is ready for an epic feat when he is teleported into the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives of galaxies far and far away with the aliens who mistake Elio for the leader of Earth. In theaters from
June 13.
The Twits
Based on the
Roald Dahl novel of the same name and produced by
Jellyfish Pictures, the film features a pair of evil pranksters who plan an elaborate heist with their team of highly trained animals. The film is expected on

The Smurfs Movie
Nickelodeon and
Paramount bring the Belgian
Pejo characters back to theaters with a new story directed by former

The Bad Guys 2
The reformed criminal group is brought out of retirement for one last heist by a female crime syndicate, challenging their newfound status as good guys. The sequel to the 2022 action comedy from
DreamWorks Animation studios, is scheduled to hit theaters on
August 1st.
Zootopia 2
The new creative director of the
Disney studios,
Jared Bush, returns behind the (virtual) camera of the sequel to the 2016 film that he wrote and directed together with
Byron Howard, again in the project with the same duties. In the film we will find the courageous policewoman Judy Hopps and her friend, the fox Nick Wilde, to share other adventures, the most dangerous and intricate of their lives. It is expected in theaters on
November 26.
The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol
Late 2025 will mark the return of award-winning French author, director and animator
Sylvain Chomet (
Les triplettes de Belleville, The Illusionist) with a film about Pagnol, a playwright, novelist and director who grew up in a middle-class family in Marseille and became one of the world's most creative and prolific artists from the 1930s to the 1950s. The release date in French cinemas is set for October.
In Your Dreams
Initially scheduled for 2024 and then postponed, in 2025 the
Netflix platform will distribute the film written and directed by the two ex-Pixar
Alexander Woo and
Erik Benson. Stevie and her little brother Elliot travel through the incredibly absurd world of their dreams to ask the Sandman for the greatest gift: the perfect family.
K-Pop: Demon Hunters
Sony Pictures Animation dives into the world of Korean-Pop by bringing to the big screen a group of world-famous K-Pop girls who balance their life in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters. The film will be released exclusively on
Netflix.
Lupin the IIIrd The Movie
The new film starring the famous gentleman thief created by the late
Monkey Punch is expected in Japanese theaters in 2025. Introduced simply with the phrase
"You still don't know the real Lupin the Third", the staff says that the film will be the first new 2D anime feature film in the franchise in nearly 30 years.
