Born in Fukuoka on March 16, 1965, he is a Japanese director, screenwriter and animator.
He is known for the animated feature films Mind Game, Lu and the City of Sirens, Ride Your Wave and the anime series Kaiba, The Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong The Animation, Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!.
In February 2013, together with collaborator Eunyoung Choi, he founded his new animation studio, Science Saru. On March 25, 2020 he left the role of president of the studios while continuing to work as a director.
