In 1999 in Kilkenny, Ireland, Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey and Paul Young, three students of the animation course at the Ballyfermot College of Further Education founded the animation studio Cartoon Saloon.

The same year the first trailer for their first animated feature film, The Secret of Kells, was produced, which only went into production in 2005. In the meantime, in search of financing, the studios worked to commercials and little else.

To date, the studios have several hundred animators and artists with their animated productions nominated and awarded all over the world for the most famous awards, including Oscar, Annie and Annecy and more.

They have worked as a service for big brands such as Disney, BBC, Cartoon Network and signed agreements with streaming services such as Netflix and Apple TV.

Their productions often draw heavily on Irish traditions, have a very distinctive design and stories aimed at both very young and old audiences. Characteristics that quickly brought the studios to the Olympus of the best in the sector, with distinctive features that made them known throughout the world.
