With the film sector trying to raise its head after the pandemic and the Disney crisis, the box office, Pixar and Illumination recorded important record.
The last two titles from American animation studios have set new and important records in the sector.

Despicable Me 4 has already recorded over $430 million in global takings with $210 in American theaters alone. The global franchise of the title (including spin-offs) has surpassed $5 billion in total (with 6 films).

It is the first franchise in the animated sector to surpass this milestone and 15th in the global list in which only live-action excels (find the complete ranking at AnimationMagazine).

Other animated franchises include: Shrek $4.02 billion with 6 films (and a seventh expected in 2026); Toy Story $3.27 billion with 5 films; Ice Age $3.2 billion with 6 films; Frozen $2.72 billion with 2 films.

Moving on to Pixar studios, their latest feature film Inside Out 2 exceeds the stratospheric gross of $1.348 million globally with $571 in American theaters.

On Friday it surpassed Incredibles 2, the studio's highest-grossing film until last week with $1,243 million, but also broke the record for the highest-grossing animated film to reach $1 billion: 19 days. It is also currently the highest-grossing film of the year in America, dubbing the second: Dune: Part 2.
